Migos‘s “Bad and Boujee” has reached the top of U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and received a shoutout during Donald Glover’s Golden Globes acceptance speech as being “the best song ever.” Now, the viral track is making its way into classrooms.

David Yancey is a middle school social studies teacher in Georgia who has updated Migos’s famous lines such as “my b*tch is bad and boujee” with a Civil War context: “My troops are mad and losing,” referring to the Emancipation Proclamation. And also, “Pop pop/drop drop.”

“I try to build rapport, teach the material, and ultimately bridge the gap,” Mr. Yancey comments. “I ask the students the song that the kids are into and I adjust the content to match.”

If you’re interested in more educational parodies, Mr. Yancey did a Cherokee rendition of Adele’s hit single “Hello,” which you can watch here. Furthermore, other “Bad and Boujee” remixes can be revisited such as ZHU‘s, while you can also check out this list of “Rain drop, drop top” memes.
