In the time since the Academy Awards first started celebrating outstanding cinema in the late 1920s, technological advances have had a huge impact on the movie industry and especially in the field of special effects. This 11-minute video by Burger Fiction brings us bang up to date by charting key scenes from every winner of the Best Visual Effects category since 1927. Along the way, expect to see clips from groundbreaking titles including 1931’s Shanghai Express through to Alien, Jurassic Park and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is nominated for this year’s awards.
