The North Face Upgrades Vintage Outdoor Styles for the 21st Century
The “Urban Exploration Icons” line repurposes ’60s and ’70s gear for today’s urban lifestyle.

The North Face is giving some of its OG silhouettes from the 1960’s and ’70s a modern tech update for its “Urban Exploration Icons” collection. The first update comes in the form of the men’s Mountain Murdo. Building on the original McMurdo Expedition Jacket, the reworked icon introduces a narrower cut as well as features such as alpine breast pockets, and a weather-resistant construction. The second model, the women’s Cagoule Parka, redesigns the 1968 original with lightweight textiles and DryVent technology for premium comfort, ventilation and dryness for protection against extreme weather conditions. The final piece in the collection is the Denali Thermoball — a half-zip quilted anorak parka with a hidden zip chest pocket and an adjustable hem.
Take a look at the photoset above and shop the remastered icons on The North Face’s official website starting at €180 EUR or about $190 USD.
