The North Face Climb Festival returned to London for its 2026 edition, transforming the Royal Victoria Dock into a two-day arena where the world’s top climbers went head-to-head above open water. Held on 17 and 18 July, the sell-out event drew close to 16,000 climbers, creators and fans, fusing elite competition, athlete workshops and a full festival lineup into the headline moment of The North Face’s Summer Detour campaign.

At the centre of it all stood the Deep Water Solo Wall, a 14-metre structure rising straight out of the dock, with nothing but the water of London’s Royal Docks to catch anyone who fell. Across the weekend, that wall set the stage for a full competitive bracket. Friday ran through men’s and women’s qualifiers before the crowd-favourite dyno battles and awards, while Saturday escalated into quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Deep Water Solo finals that closed out the sporting program.

The 2026 edition marked a clear step up in scale. After its 2024 London run at Canary Wharf drew close to 15,000 guests across a single weekend, the festival relocated to the larger Royal Victoria Dock to meet demand, then went one better by selling out and welcoming nearly 16,000 through the gates. That growth traces back to a wider global footprint, with previous editions taking over cities including New York, Shanghai and San Francisco as the festival built its reputation for bridging climbing communities across borders.

Beyond the competition wall, the festival leaned into access and education. The North Face athletes Molly Thompson-Smith, Fay Manners and Siebe Vanhee featured across the weekend’s programming, joined by names like Alex Honnold, Conrad Anker, Brooke Raboutou, Nina Williams, Solenne Piret and Jules Marchaland for bouldering workshops, film screenings and speaker sessions at the Camp 4 stage. Family-friendly bouldering walls, the Rhino Lab repair dome, the Columbus Ave pop-up store and the Base Camp gave attendees a hands-on taste of the elite climbing experience on solid ground.

Music was the festival’s second engine, and the collaboration with Rinse FM tied the whole thing to London’s cultural fabric. The East London-born station, long recognised as the city’s most influential pirate-turned-legitimate broadcaster, brought its roster to the main stage across both days. Sets from JYOTY, Femi Koleoso, Girls Don’t Sync, Ross From Friends and DJ AG shaped the weekend’s soundtrack, while hosts Mary Mandefield, Kennedy Taylor and Steve Scott kept the energy moving between the sport and the stage.

The North Face Climb Festival London 2026 wrapped as a two-day proof of concept for climbing as spectacle, community and culture rolled into one. As the anchor of the brand’s Summer Detour campaign, the sell-out weekend reinforced The North Face’s push to build spaces where people gather to explore, test their limits and Never Stop Exploring, setting a high bar for wherever the festival lands next.
