The man behind Netflix’s incoming Castlevania show and a very NSFW reimagining of the Power Rangers, Adi Shankhar, is currently developing a “really f*cking dark” series of your favorite helmet-clad heroes. The film director told Polygon that “It’s a complete retelling of the first three seasons” and will be “the most violent version of the show to date.”

Perhaps the most exciting takeaway from this ultra-violent show is that it will presumably boast Dragon Ball Z-inspired character arcs and battle sequences. Shankar has already started the script for the first installment which is slated to release in 18 months. Although he hasn’t found a network to back up the project, Shankar hopes that it will catch Netflix’s attention.

“I’ve worked with almost every network and Netflix just gets it. The world we live in now has disrupted the idea of what entertainment is and Netflix gets it.” Having added: “If you look at what shows are like today, they’re long movies. It’s a format paradigm and I want to explore creating these types of new shows with Power Rangers.
