Brendan Fowler of 'Some Ware' Launches New Art Show and Election Reform! Pop-Up EventA series of embroidered portraitures titled “New Portraits.”
Other than heading creative project Some Ware alongside Cali Thornhill DeWitt, Los Angeles-based artist and musician Brendan Fowler is showing his “New Portraits” art show at the Richard Telles Fine Art Gallery in Los Angeles from January 7-11. The exhibition consists of portraits made by the same industrial embroidery machines Brendan uses for his Election Reform! hoodies. This series of embroidered portraitures on canvas are looser and sparser in detail than most of the Brendan’s previous embroidery works, which served as sketches for his new artwork, and feature a pared down selection of colored threads. “The subjects of the portraits are people that I mainly interact with in clothing/music life, so the show sort of documents and integrates my worlds,” commented Brendan. To accompany the art show, a first ever Election Reform! pop-up event will take place in the gallery on the art show’s closing date, February 11. There will be all-new, unique hoodies and T-shirts up for grabs.
