Virgin Hyperloop One Sets New Land Speed Record
The Richard Branson rumors were also confirmed.

Virgin Hyperloop One has shattered its original passenger pod speed of 192 mph to a record 240 mph at its DevLoop track in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 28-foot-long pod was loaded into a 1,600-foot-long concrete test tube and hovered above the test track, bypassing friction to hit a record speed 20mph faster than what Elon Musk set this summer.
The recently-manufactured airlock system managed the airless environment, which had an approximated air pressure comparable to 200,000 feet above sea level. To cap off the good news, the company also announced that Richard Branson is coming aboard as chairman and that it just raised $50 million, replacing Shervin Pishevar, who left temporarily amidst sexual misconduct allegations. It appears our future of tube travel is closer and closer to coming to reality. Are you looking forward to it?
