Die Antwoord Roast Eminem for Mispronouncing Their Name
On the track, “Untouchable.”
Last night Eminem dropped the single “Untouchable,” a track off of his upcoming album Revival. In the third verse of the track, Em references South African hip-hop group Die Antwoord with the lines, “I’d rather hear ‘em say ‘Die N-word’ than Die Antwoord / Ninja, now it’s better disguised banter.” However, Die Antwoord weren’t exactly appreciative of the shout out on “Untouchable,” considering Em had to incorrectly pronounce their name for the line to rhyme.
Ninja and Yolandi Visser didn’t want to let this one slide, so taking to Instagram, Yolandi addressed Eminem directly saying, “Okay, so like, how would you feel if I called you Eeminem? Okay, your name’s Eminem but I call you Eeminem, just because it rhymes with something you know.” Then they went on to roast him even further, “Eeminem went to jail and got a bit of semen in his bum and was never seen again. You know, do you see how that feels?” Check it all out in the video below.
Em previously explained he has to deliberately mispronounce names in his raps; often times not out of malice but to make his words rhyme better. “Untouchable” can be heard below. Eminem’s Rival album drops December 15 and the Detroit rapper released limited edition Revival packs for the launch.
