BILLY COLLECTION 001 Is Now Available to Pre-Order
Fans of Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto, take note.
Emerging Californian label BILLY is opening up pre-orders for its debut release. Full of effortless layering pieces, the brand already made fans of celebrities before going public.
Designer Holly Jovenall describes her line as “Paying homage to visionaries like Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens,” which is made clear by the line’s relaxed styling and monochrome color palette. Unlike the aforementioned labels however, BILLY is made entirely in Los Angeles and tends to avoid releasing distinct men and women’s lines, instead focusing on genderless items. For its launch, the brand has queued up a selection of revised staples.
Goods include printed T-shirts and distressed sweaters, made unique by clever details like dropped shoulders, raglan sleeves, fabrics sourced from Japan and off-kilter construction techniques. For instance, inspiration for the “Marshall Tee”‘s washed-out color came “through a process of natural light exposure over a long period of time with a vintage tee.” The finished product has been meticulously washed and hand-distressed by the designer herself to achieve similar results.
