New 'Annihilation' Trailer: An All-Women Team Goes Up Against a World of Mutants
A sci-fi thriller starring Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson.
Paramount has released a new trailer for director Alex Garland’s Annihilation, a sci-fi thriller showing off an expedition into a bizarre world. Based on the novel by Jeff VanderMeer, the film follows an unnamed biologist (played by Natalie Portman), whose part of a team of women (including Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tessa Thompson) sent into Area X, which has been blocked off by an unknown barrier.
The evacuated landscape hosts bizarre mutations and a horrible reputation of explorers going and never returning, or if they do, they’re ridden with cancers. Portman’s character also has a personal motive; her husband (played by Oscar Isaac) was part of an expedition where his team went missing, and while something that looks like him came back, she’s not convinced it was really him. The trailer above shows how bizarre the decaying zone is, flowers look strange, while a crocodile looks like it has the teeth of a shark. Annihilation hits theaters on February 23, 2018, but for now, check the visuals and comment below.
