River Island Taps Tourne De Transmission for Its Latest Design Forum

For its latest Design Forum collaboration, River Island is bringing a little eastern-infused design philosophy to London as it links up with Tourne De Transmission. Drawing from Japanese cultures both old and new, the range features 14 pieces of ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories in all, all of which “epitomize Tourne De Transmission’s ability to re-interpret traditional influences and pattern cutting with a distinct contemporary aesthetic.”

“We worked closely with River Island’s design team; first of all understanding what it was that attracted them to our aesthetic and then researching concepts together,” said Transmission founder and creative director, Graeme Gaughan. “From there we were able deliver something new and exciting for the River Island man that not only stays true to the TDT brand, but appeals to River Island’s global audience.” The results include everything from kimono and wide leg trouser shapes to boro-like patchworks, block jersey sweats and monochromatic tees — all of which come in a muted color palette and in natural cloths like linen, canvas, cotton and denim. Utilitarian details also abound and underscore the contemporary nature of the range.

The collaborative Design Forum release can be shopped now in its entirety over at River Island’s website and will be further highlighted at London Fashion Week Men’s this month with a special short film with the British Fashion Council.
