Avalone's 2017 Fall/Winter Collection Experiences "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
The Japanese label takes it back to the ’90s and early ’00s.

Established back in 2013 by designer Susumu Miura, Japan-based AVALONE is no stranger to unique inspiration: for its Fall/Winter 2016 drop, the brand took cues from the death metal bands of the ’90s while its Spring/Symmer 2017 followup took on the likes of Audi’s iconic logo to go along with a Berlin setting for its seasonal lookbook. This time around, Miura and company are taking a decidedly sportswear-inspired edge, and a retro one at that, taking things back to the ’90s and early ’00s for Fall/Winter 2017. Dubbed “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” the range is highlighted by masks made from Nikes and is marked by sweats and old school tearaways — all of which don branding cues appropriate of the era. Punctuated by some fuzzy pullovers and retro-futuristic graphics, Avalone’s Fall/Winter 2017 drop will hit select stockists in the months ahead.
