The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Gets a Full Ceramic Case
And a ceramic bracelet, too.
Audemars Piguet’s new yellow gold version of the Royal Oak Ultra-Thin is gorgeous, but its not even the Swiss watchmaker’s best timepiece to surface today. That distinction goes instead to what HODINKEE founder Ben Clymer is calling “the hottest watch of SIHH 2017”: the latest take on the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. Not only does the watch sport a matte black brushed ceramic case, but it comes with a matching bracelet, too. According to Audemars, the case required over 600 hours of research to develop while each bracelet takes thirty hours to machine, polish, hand-finish and assemble — five times as long as the process takes for a steel version of the Royal Oak. Best of all, though? The brushed ceramic is not only nearly impossible to scratch, but is resistant to high temperatures, age and shocks. As far as additional details go, the timepiece features the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar’s usual caliber 5134 while the “Grande Tapisserie” dial comes in slate grey with black registers.
For more, head on over to Audemars Piguet’s official website. The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in matte black brushed ceramic is expected to launch later this year for around $85,000 USD.
