'Goat' Confronts the Psychological Horrors of Fraternity Hazing
Ben Schnetzer, Nick Jonas and James Franco star in the psychological drama.
Every year, over half a million young men pledge fraternities and greek societies at universities across the United States. Goat is a film that explores the trials and tribulations that many of these underclassmen undergo in order to fit in and belong on a college campus. Brad Land (Ben Schnetzer) is one of these impressionable young men who is persuaded into pledging his older brother Brett’s (played by Nick Jonas) frat in the aftermath of a traumatic assault experience. What starts off as typical collegiate bacchanalia—beer-bongs, body-shots and sloppy hook-ups galore—quickly gets much darker when the frat’s Hell Week rolls around. Pledges are demeaned, abused, and pushed to their physical and mental limits, all in the name of brotherhood.
James Franco stars in a supporting role in this psychological drama that explores the grim realities of how far young people are willing to go for friends and family. Check the trailer out above.
