Shanghai Museum of Glass Receives Vibrant New Design Wing
A bridge constructed with tinted glass connects the main building to the new wing.

Architecture firm, COORDINATION ASIA, recently built a two-floor Design Wing for the Shanghai Museum of Glass located in G+PARK — a development in the Baoshan region of the Chinese city that lends itself to art and culture-related events. At first glance, one would immediately notice a vibrantly colored bridge made out of tinted glass that connects the museum’s main hall to its latest extension. The newly constructed wing will solely host contemporary pieces from artists who specialize in glass such as the Campana Brothers, Pia Wüstenberg, Formafantasma, Nendo and widely recognized architect Tadao Ando, who also creates glass art. All in all, the Design Wing will “swiftly adapt to the ever-evolving design landscape in glass, representing the possibilities that glass offers,” Architizer reports.
