The much-anticipated seventh installment of the Resident Evil franchise has finally been announced today at E3, marking the return of the series from a more action-oriented place to its purely horror roots. Capcom hopes the clean slate of Resident Evil 7 will please long-time fans of the series, following the less-than-stellar reviews of Resident Evil 6 despite it shipping five million copies. Look for Resident Evil 7 to release early next year on January 24.
