Something undoubtedly clicked for LeBron James in the latter part of the this year’s NBA Finals. After falling behind Golden State 3-1, LeBron led the Cavaliers to three straight wins — it was the first time a team had ever recovered from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals — on his way to NBA Finals MVP honors and, more importantly, the Cavs’ first-ever championship and Cleveland’s first title as a city since the Browns took home the 1964 NFL Championship. Not only did LeBron end the series with averages of 34-plus points, 12-plus rebounds and 9 assists over those final few games, he led all players in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals for the series, making him the first player in NBA history to lead both teams in five statistical categories over the course of a playoff round.
So was it the shoes? Nike would like to have you think so — LeBron broke out a black and gold rendition of the Soldier 10 in Game 5 and then laced them up again for the Game 7 series-ender before the Swoosh made them available on NIKEiD this week. Naturally, the kicks sold out in the blink of an eye. But, if you missed out on King James’s championship-winning footwear, fear not: Nike has yet another black colorway of the Soldier 10 up for grabs. Dubbed “Strive For Greatness,” the latest Soldier once again comes decked out in black, but this time ditches the golden accents in favor of a reflective 3M Swoosh while a gum rubber outsole provides the finishing touch.
Officially launched this morning via Nike SNKRS, the LeBron Soldier 10 “Strive For Greatness” is available now at select NSW and Nike Basketball spots worldwide.
