Backstage at Nasir Mazhar 2017 Spring/Summer Collection
The London native returns with a brighter range.
Continuing to find innovative ways to elevate technical apparel designs, Nasir Mazhar recently debuted his 2017 spring/summer range at London Collections Men. This season’s collection saw a brighter display from the London native, as colors such as blue, red and green were used to accentuate tracksuits, roomy gym shorts, zip-up waist coats, and the brand’s coveted holster. The use of silver PVC contrasted with muted, earthy tones which gave off a military feel in line with Mazhar’s utilitarian aesthetic for an urban audience.
The designer’s appreciation for traditional elegance was also apparent, as the introduction of lace knitting seen across suit pairings and cropped tops offered a sophisticated edge. As for the line’s headwear range, a category where many look forward to the most, the signature Bully Cap made a return and was shown alongside a warped fisherman’s hat. It’s been a good few seasons since Mazhar’s departed from the use of popular tape seam branding, yet those hankering will be satisfied by new gym shorts with an elastic hem that shouts out the label loud and clear.
Poised with the counterculture influences that make up the brand’s upfront approach to runway design, Nasir Mazhar pushes the boundary via the use of new colorways and fabrics without disrupting the imprint’s overarching aesthetic.
