WhatsApp Finally Has a Proper Desktop App
The much-needed addition is available for both Windows and Mac.

Last year, Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp finally introduced a desktop client. Unfortunately, however, the release left a lot to be desired. Not only did it work via your web browser, but it wasn’t even compatible with iOS, thus leaving iPhone users out entirely. Thankfully, however, WhatsApp is righting those wrongs, introducing its proper desktop app today.
Simply acting as an extension of the mobile app, the new desktop release is compatible with Windows 8 and up and Mac OS X Mavericks and up and, since it runs natively on your desktop, it offers support for the likes of your desktop notifications and keyboard shortcuts.
The app is available for download now via WhatsApp’s website and can be activated by scanning the provided QR code using WhatsApp on your phone.
