Streetsnaps: Fashion Week Australia 2016
A look at the styles from down under.
Held at its annual location Carriageworks in Redfern Sydney, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia again showcased seasonal collections from revered and fledgling designers in Australia and the Asia Pacific. While much of the limelight were aimed at the models strutting down runways — most notably Bella Hadid, who debuted Australian Fashion Week this year, leading the Misha show with a cohort of models behind her — others took the chance to capture the unique street styles put together by attendees. Combating the transitional weather, a selection of thin outerwear looks were on show. Bold appliques on Biker jackets alongside souvenir bombers are examples of the current trend for bespoke detailing, while designs from past collections by Gosha Rubchinskiy, COMME des GARCONS, and Palace Skateboards were paired with a mix of retro and casual looks, displaying the wide-ranging styles on offer from down under.
