John Elliott Reveals His "rtv+" Delivery
Shot on the streets of Hanoi.
John Elliott’s latest collection extends the young menswear designer’s love affair with South East Asia. The capsule, titled “rtv+” (shorthand for “Running Through Vietnam Plus”) features military-inspired basics inspired by the designer’s trip to the Vietnamese capital — the lookbook visuals were also shot in Hanoi, against a backdrop of neon. Elliott told Complex:
The color palette of the Spring Summer 16 collection was drawn from the streets of Hanoi and Islands of Halong Bay. I was curious to experience Vietnam while running through it and the takeaway was washed down, foggy, pale tones. In order to tell the story in an authentic manner, we had to go back to the source of the inspiration. Over two deliveries you’ll see cropped raw hem denim, raw hem denim shorts, new sweatshirt styles, and for the first time, layered two pack tees.
Alongside these offerings, the two-part collection features distressed and destroyed-hem tees and oversized sweats. The Yeezy Season contributor’s simple aesthetic is reinforced in a muted palette of grays, blues and blacks. The first part of the delivery drops on May 9, while the second will follow on May 16.
