Joyride With Jay Leno in His Restored 1969 Lamborghini Espada
Hey Jay, you left your blinker on.
You can never go wrong with a set of classic luxury wheels and Jay Leno’s 1969 Lamborghini Espada is a prime example of preservation. Although he now owns an impressive selection of exotic cars, this Lamborghini holds sentimental value with it being Leno’s only car at one point in his life. 30 years and over one hundred thousand miles later, Leno details portions of the Espada that he decided to freshen up.
What started as a project to fix some loose wiring ended up with Leno making sure all details of his 1969 Lambo were fixed up, including body work as well as some interior upgrades. With the project being around ten years old, Leno provides additional tips for those who also may own the same model such as letting its V12 engine heat up before full usage. Leno chose to keep the Espada almost entirely in stock condition, adding just a few modern amenities such as air conditioning and sound insulation.
The roomy Espada set Leno back $26,000 USD back in 1986. At the time, Leno was faced with the prospect of either purchasing the Espada or a Ferrari 330 GTC instead for about $2,500 USD more. Despite the fact that the 330 GTC is now valued at over $1 million USD, Leno still enjoys his luxurious Espada in California’s beautiful weather.
