Explore New York Through Vertigo-Inducing Drone Footage
Using Hitchcock’s signature dolly zoom technique.
Drone filmmaking continues its ever-expanding experimentation with varying cinematic techniques, facilitated by the flow of new devices and technology. Brooklyn-based filmmakers Brandon Bray and Tim Sessler took Alfred Hitchcock’s signature Vertigo effect, also known as the dolly zoom, to shoot stunning aerial views of New York using a Canon CN-E 15.5-47mm cine zoom lens and RT Motion FIZ. The result is a vertiginous voyage overlooking skyscrapers, bridges, rooftops — and even cemeteries, all from a unique perspective.
