The Regatta Sneaker Is Louis Vuitton's Best Yohji Yamamoto Impression
A tribute to the 2017 Americas Cup.
French luxury brand Louis Vuitton’s latest lifestyle sneaker silhouette, the Regatta, pays tribute to the fashion house’s storied sporting history with an Americas Cup 2017 insignia emblazoned discreetly upon its midsole. Aside from its maritime inspirations, the shoes feature a neoprene upper, a branded Velcro strap, and a Tubular-esque midsole, all of which point toward the Maison taking significant design cues from Japanese designer and adidas collaborator Yohji Yamamoto.
