Hasbro Teams up With Xiaomi to Create Tablet Transformer Robot
From Soundwave to XIaomi tablet.
Famous toy company Hasbro has teamed up with Chinese electronics mammoth Xiaomi on a modern-day Soundwave, the Transformer robot that traditionally became a microcasette recorder. Now, the Decepticon transforms into Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 2 tablets in a detailed 30-step process. Xiaomi’s International Division VP Hugo Barra said that this team “worked really hard to ensure that the color, details and feel are exactly the same as Mi Pad 2.” The 190 mm replica doesn’t actually work, but it costs only $26 USD and is a must-have collectible for tech and toy enthusiasts alike. Originally a crowdfunded project, the toy is now fully-funded and we can expect large-scale rollout sometime soon.
