Desiigner Is the First NYC Rapper Since Jay Z to Dominate Billboard Hot 100
What an accomplishment.

G.O.O.D. Music’s latest signee has just earned a pretty impressive accomplishment. As Complex notes, Brooklyn up-and-comer Desiigner has just become the first New York City rapper since Jay Z to take the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Desiigner’s breakthrough hit “Panda” knocked Rihanna and Drake’s “Work” from No. 1, allowing for NYC’s first major rap record on the Hot 100’s top spot since Jay Z’s 2009 record “Empire State of Mind.” As Complex also reports, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Ja Rule, Terror Squad, MIMS and Desiigner are the main NYC lyricists to have landed this accomplishment.
