Levi's Documentary Looks at the 501 Jean's Influence in Pop Culture
Exploring the history behind the “garment of the outlaw.”
Levi’s has released a trailer for its upcoming three-part documentary delving into the impact of the iconic 501 Jean in popular culture. Mark McNairy opens the clip by stating that “mods and rockers, Beatle freaks, punks and skunks, kooks and geeks pretty much sums up Levi’s.” Titled The 501® Jean: Stories of an Original, the series also includes interviews from a range of artists and influencers like John Baldessari, Erin Wasson, Henry Rollins and Lee Ranaldo, and is narrated by folk musician Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. The documentary will launch with part one which explores the jean’s roots as a utilitarian garment for coal miners, cowboys and industrial workers.
