Converse Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Punk
Converse takes it back to the ’70s underground scene.

Having already paid homage to the Sex Pistols this season, Converse is celebrating the 40th anniversary of punk more broadly this month as it looks to the underground scene of the ’70s. Taking cues from the rebelliousness of the era, the celebratory release taps that Chuck Taylor All Star — long a punk staple — and makes it over with the likes of mohair fabric, metal studs, creeper-like foxing, and a nod to creative subversion that flips the shoe’s construction from front to back.
Converse’s own resistance to the mainstream drops this Friday, February 12 at select stockists and converse.com with prices starting at $120 USD.
