A First Look at Tom Cruise & Russell Crowe in 'The Mummy'
Our first glimpse of the upcoming reboot.
Cinematic universes are all the rage these days and Universal is the latest to get in on the action, uniting its famed monsters under a single umbrella of reboots with what’s aptly being called the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe. And the first installment in the series? A brand new take on The Mummy.
Featuring a cast the includes Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe, The Mummy stars none other than Tom Cruise. According to Universal, the film’s premise centers around “an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her” and one who is awakened in the present day from what was thought to be a safe entombment deep beneath the desert. Upon awakening, “she brings with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.”
You can check out the first teaser trailer for the film above while its poster appears below. Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy — which will be followed by The Invisible Man in 2018 and Van Helsing and Vampire Chronicles reboots in the years after — hits theaters June 9, 2017.
