Watch Craig Sager's Inspiring Last Interview, Filmed Back in October
Even after his third bone marrow transplant he still donned a bold sports coat with an infectious smile.
Last Thursday, legendary sideline reporter for the NBA, Craig Sager, passed away at 65 after a long-fought battle with leukemia. The last time many of us saw the recently inducted Broadcasting Hall of Famer was at the ESPYs, where he delivered an inspirational speech for winning the prestigious Jimmy V Perseverance Award. However this past weekend, the CBS Morning Show premiered what may be the last television interview with Sager, filmed back in October just after completing his third bone marrow transplant. “I’m fighting for not only myself, and my family, but I feel I am fighting for everyone who has cancer,” Sager said to Jim Axelrod, clad in a vibrant blue jacket and his signature, infectious smile. Although his familiar face, seen countless of times on the sidelines of basketball’s greatest games, looks much less recognizable, his lovable, kind and courageous spirit is as strong as ever. He concluded the sit-down with his newfound perspective on time: “Everyday is a canvas just waiting to be painted.”
