The 'American Crime Story' Director Is Working on a TV Series Based Entirely on Tupac's Murder
‘Murder Rap’ author and former LAPD detective Greg Kading is also involved.
In recent months, much of the press surrounding Tupac Shakur has involved the forthcoming Benny Boom film All Eyez on Me. Now, a major television network is taking serious interest in the life and death of Tupac. As XXL reports, the USA Network has ordered a pilot based on the police investigations into the murders of Biggie and Tupac. Titled Unsolved, the potential series is based on the work of renowned author and former LAPD detective Greg Kading, the law enforcement figure who led several task forces responsible for investigating hip-hop’s most notorious pair of deaths.
Kading’s most significant recent contribution to the investigation came in the form of the book Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations, and will serve as as one of the pilot’s primary advisers and its executive producer. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story director Anthony Hemingway will direct the show, and Suits story editor Kyle Long has been given the role of script writer. Expect more information to emerge in the coming months.
