Tesla Autopilot Program Update Arriving Soon, Self Parking and More Slated
Finally, you’ll get what you thought you paid for.

If you ordered a brand new Tesla Model S, you might have done so expecting to have Autopilot self-driving features, however, they were delivered without the full range of software. Elon Musk responds to a buyer’s question on Twitter in regards to “missing features” and says that your Tesla will have Autopilot 8.1 hardware updates some time mid-December. The upcoming update will include functions like lane keep assist, self-parking, the ability to change lanes automatically and more, assuming that everything passes regulatory approval. Additional Tesla Autopilot updates will be “rolled out incrementally in monthly releases” according to Musk. In theory, your new electric sedan should be able to provide you fully automated driving as early as next year.
