Drake Sets Record With 13 2016 American Music Awards Nominations
Rihanna second with seven.

2016 continues to be a big year for Drake. The Toronto native led nominees for the 2016 American Music Awards with 13 nods, breaking the record for most AMA nominations in a single year — surpassing Michael Jackson’s 11 nominations in 1984. It is worth pointing out that Drizzy’s never won an AMA before. This year, however, Drake is up for artist of the year (along with Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd), favorite male artist, favorite album, favorite rap artist, favorite rap song and favorite R&B song, among other awards. He is followed by Rihanna, who received seven nominations, and Adele and Justin Bieber, who are running for five prizes each. You can view the full list of nominees here.
The AMAs will be broadcast live on ABC from Los Angeles’s Microsoft Theater on November 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
