Artist Crystal Wagner Applies Her Eye for Color to a Polish Townhouse

Creating a vibrant statement in the Polish city of Lodz, American artist Crystal Wagner has unveiled a sprawling 3D mural across the facade of a 100-year-old art nouveau building. The work, entitled Hyperbolic, was commissioned by UNIQA Art Lodz and comprises chicken wire and UV-proof kite material, tying in with the artist’s fascination with 2D and 3D shapes. Curator Michal Bieżyński has described it as “devouring” the architecture it sits on and, with its vivid purple palette, it forms a striking contrast with the grey stonework beneath.
