Neguim Shuts Down Brazilian Stereotypes With New EP
Looking for some tropical house? This isn’t for you.
Last year, a form of music called tropical house blew up and although we’re not knocking the genre in any way, many listeners have misguidedly associated the sound with Latin and South America. Brazilian producer Neguim is not an artist who encourages the stereotype; rather, the beatsmith incorporates sounds from his country’s rich musical heritage, such as samba, bossa nova, gaucho and jazz, to his music. Last week, the Goiânia native released an EP titled Brazuka, which consists of three hard-hitting trapped-out songs containing unique samples from the aforementioned genres.
