'Deadpool' Has Been Banned in China for Having Too Much Violence & Nudity
Only makes us want to watch it more.
Marvel’s upcoming R-rated foul-mouthed superhero film, Deadpool, has succeeded in shutting itself out of the world’s second largest movie market in China. Citing an abundance of violence, nudity and graphic language, China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, which is in charge of censoring all films entering the country before their release, has outrightly banned Deadpool from being screened, as censoring out the bad parts might have left little to nothing for audiences to watch. The government agency’s censors might have missed the entire point of the film though, given that Deadpool is Marvel’s most outspoken character on film to date — swearing, breaking the fourth wall and generally having no regard for social conventions of politeness. For a look at why it was banned for Chinese audiences, all you have to do is watch this trailer.
