English actor Joseph Fiennes is to play King of Pop, Michael Jackson, in a forthcoming road-trip comedy set around the events of 9/11. The film, which reportedly centers on a road trip taken by Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando in the days following the terrorist attacks in 2001, will be aired on British television and is to be based on a fictionalised New Yorker piece by Zadie Smith, published last year. “It’s a fun, light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek road trip of what celebrity of that kind is like,” Fiennes explained in a WENN interview. “But also it’s rather beautiful and poignant about their relationships as well.”
