Studio Banana Things Introduce Ear-Free BATBAND Headphones
Futuristic headphones that don’t even cover your ears.

The folks over at Studio Banana Things have been hard at work on creating a futuristic set of headphones — a pair that works without even covering your ears. Thanks to the transmission of sound waves via bone conduction, the so-called BATBAND allows your “private” inner-ear to perceive the band’s output while freeing up your “social” outer ear. Thus, your ears can remain free while allowing you to hear twice as much. To use the BATBAND, wearers simply place the band around the back of the head and pair it with a mobile device via Bluetooth for cord-free, ear-free listening.
To back the project and check out in-depth info on the technical aspects of the design, head over to the BATBAND Kickstarter page. The device is currently set to ship in April of 2016 while users can currently secure a set via a $149 USD pledge.
