Sam Smith Stars In Balenciaga's 2015 Fall/ Winter Campaign
His first major fashion campaign.
British artist Sam Smith stars in the latest campaign by Balenciaga, marking his first involvement in a major fashion campaign. Shot by Josh Olins, the monochromatic images and accompanying video features the singer-songwriter, who’s clad in Alexander Wang’s coveted designs, in a pensive state and enclosed in a cement dome. A large block of ice sits atop a slate table in the center of the space, which is later shattered towards the climax of the clip. Drawing inspiration from the purity of forms found in nature, Balenciaga’s new collection includes a variety of long sartorial coats and what seems to be neoprene-like material that was also used in Wang’s H&M collaboration. The short visual is scored by Andy Stott’s eerie ”Violence,” which can be enjoyed below.
