Today is a good day: it has just been announced that a new Gorillaz album is officially in the works. Band frontman Damon Albarn reveals that he and Jamie Hewlett will begin cultivating the virtual group’s fifth album — the followup to their 2010 release The Fall — in September. Currently, the project has no title or release date yet, but Albarn has already shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming release. “I’ve just been really, really busy so I haven’t had a chance. I’d love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week,” he shares in an interview with Australian ABC program 7:30. However, this isn’t the first time a Gorillaz revival was hinted without follow-through, but after Albarn reunited his other band Blur to release The Magic Whip — their first project in 12 years — it seems that this time the claim just might be valid. We’ll keep you posted on this, and meanwhile, listen to a short clip of an allegedly new Gorillaz song leak below.
