In a segment with TMZ, Kendrick Lamar has responded to the incendiary comments earlier this week by talk show host Geraldo Rivera on Fox News. Rivera essentially accused Lamar of inciting retribution against authoritative figures in his staged performance at the 2015 BET Awards. In his defense, the Compton artist argues that his intention of standing atop a vandalized police car is to convey a message of empowerment over the recent police violence against the African-American community. Additionally, Lamar further suggests that through Rivera’s expressed grievances against his performance, the Republican reporter is contributing to the problem at hand by diverting the public’s attention to a relevant crisis ravaging America’s society well being. Take a look at the clip above, and let us know your thoughts on this discourse in the comments section below.
