Toro Y Moi "room for 1zone" Music Video
Does “room for 1zone” define a new creative direction for Toro Y Moi?
Following the recent SoundCloud release of Toro Y Moi’s “room for 1zone,” the American producer and recording artist has uploaded the track’s accompanying music video. Both the song and visual accompaniment are an obvious departure from previous projects and Toro Y Moi’s recently released album What For?. Despite his work retaining somewhat of a mildly lo-fi appeal since its rise to popularity in 2013, “room for 1zone” defines a new genre for his work with the mysterious video filmed in a fashion uncanny to the style of pieces such as “Rose Quartz” and “Say That.” The question is whether or not his latest installation marks a turnaround for the young recording artist as “room for 1zone” bears strong reference to the increasingly popular vaporwave genre, with the video’s subject grabbing his crotch in front of the Texan Prada Marfa art instillation wearing Ralph Lauren under the light of a skewed camera lens. Enjoy the video above and let us know what you think of Toro Y Moi’s seemingly new creative direction.
