Nike Unveils Online Raffle System for Limited Releases
Nike returns to in-store releases and pilots online raffle to combat sneaker-bots.
Nike looks set to switch to in-store pick-up for its most sought-after, limited releases. An online raffle system, to be debuted by Nike Chicago this week, is set to combat so-called ‘sneaker-bots’ and allow sneakers to end up “in the hands of real consumers” according to the U.S. brand. To get involved, customers will have to follow their local Nike store on Twitter, wait for them to tweet a link to an entry page, sign in to a verified Nike+ account, select their size and enter the raffle; within 24 hours winners will be selected and informed when and where they can pick up their purchase. Check out Nike’s detailed list of rules and regulations here. After a spate of online releases being cancelled by Nike, and a more permanent fix for combating the bots in the works, this new process should please those who have missed out in the past.
