Tyler, the Creator may have a lot of fans overseas, but he apparently has a whole group of detractors in Australia. Australian activist group Collective Shout have petitioned Australia’s prime minister to deny the Cherry Bomb polymath a visa. “What is the point of trying to stop the epidemic of violence against women when you allow, rollout the red carpet for a singer who glorifies misogyny, degrades women for entertainment?” Collective Shout co-founder Melinda Tankard Reist says in a statement. ”We believe he’s in breach of his visa conditions, which state very clearly that you cannot come here and propagate, vilify or incite discord in the Australian community,” she adds. Tankard Reist also says that Tyler is “contributing to a hostile cultural landscape for women and girls.” If you recall, Australia’s neighbor New Zealand banned Tyler previously, declaring him to be a “potential threat to public order.”
