An Official Look at Tadao Ando's "152 Elizabeth" Residential Design
A look at the latest work by the Pritzer Prize-winning Ando – his very first Manhattan residence.

After showing off a preview of the building earlier this week, here we take a full immersion into Tadao Ando’s new residential building in New York City’s NoLita neighborhood. The building, located at 152 Elizabeth Street, finds the decorated architect aiming to harmonize natural elements – represented here by water, concrete, flora and brushed steel. The materials come together at obvious places such as the lobby, which features a floor-to-ceiling water wall at the center, while elsewhere the facade will host a large living green wall at the exterior. In this way, Ando’s building is a breathing being that parallels its residents, a juxtaposition in the bustle of lower Manhattan. Each floor of the seven-story building is a unit itself, with custom pieces and design courtesy of Gabellini Sheppard Associates. Enjoy a look at Ando’s latest work with the photo set above.
