New streetwear brands have the advantage of having witnessed not only the successes, but the experimental failures of its influential predecessors. MEANSWHILE, the burgeoning Japanese outfit that launched back in early 2014, is quite observant – in the best way possible. The young brand infuses outerwear cues from the likes of, say, nanamica, with a cool street sensibility, offering up wearable and meticulously-crafted pieces for the everyday. For Fall/Winter 2015, here we find the brand highlighting a range of constructed down jackets and vests, shop coat-style knit sweaters, cropped trousers and standard fare button-ups. The pieces make statements without being pretentious, in part thanks to the design language embedded in MEANSWHILE’s zippers and pocketing systems. Have a look at the pieces here and head on to MEANSWHILE’s website to shop its current inventory.
