Despite reports that JAY Z’s music streaming service TIDAL is tanking, HOV himself has responded to critics in a series of tweets. After much fanfare and publicity, TIDAL was relaunched under JAY Z’s watch backed by some of today’s biggest artists. According to his series of tweets, TIDAL has over 770,000 subscribers. Amongst the slew of tweets, the hip-hop mogul also laughs at the idea that TIDAL simply serves as a platform for artists who want a bigger cut. Mr. Carter argues that TIDAL’s $60 million USD in equity is nothing compared to competitors’ worths, such as Spotify or iTunes, and that every artist on TIDAL receives a 75 percent royalty rate. However, we should note that his tweets may not tell the full story, as it doesn’t specify how many of the 770,000 subscribers were around before TIDAL relaunched, nor does it tell us how quickly it’s expanding. Although such facts are respectable for a growing company, it pales in comparison to rivals such as Spotify, who has over 15 million paying customers. Check out a few tweets below and follow JAY Z on Twitter to stay updated with TIDAL-related news.
Tidal is doing just fine. We have over 770,000 subs. We have been in business less than one month. #TidalFacts

Tidal pays 75% royalty rate to ALL artists, writers and producers – not just the founding members on stage.
