Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole's Joint Project Is Still Happening

Following up the announcement of him headlining this year’s Summer Jam, Kendrick Lamar sat down with Hot 97 to discuss a range of subjects. The biggest (and arguably best news) coming from this conversation is that a joint album with J. Cole is “definitely” something the two plan on putting together.
“Yeah, definitely. I still would love to do it. I talked to the bro, about a little bit over a month and he’s on the tour rocking. So we’re gonna try and make something happen. They want that.”
On top of that, he also opened up about JAY Z’s newly launched music streaming service Tidal.
Yeah, me and Jay had a conversation about it, and I think it’s a great idea. Just off the simple fact of us taking control of the music that we’ve had for a long time, and not having to fight with masters and things like that.
And one artist he wished to be featured on his album is…
Prince. I went out to his headquarters and we did that show. We was in the studio, we was vibing, but we was pressed for time. More than that, I didn’t trip off getting a song done; I really appreciate the actual game he was giving me about the same thing that we’re taking about. He took control. He was breaking down some things that I need to consider in my career — just really taking control of your creativity. Man, he gave me some real jewels about that. And what Jay is doing, its just confirmation for what Prince was telling me.
