Nissan has just unveiled a new car that will take on the likes of Audi, Porsche and Toyota at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours race. The GT-R LM Nismo is a racing version of Nissan’s flagship car, the GT-R, and features an unorthodox front engine placement and front-wheel-drive configuration. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 will produce about 550 horsepower, and will reap the benefits of 700 additional horses thanks to an electric Energy Recovery System. Nissan has yet to announce its full driver lineup for Le Mans, but former Ferrari factory test driver Marc Gené is confirmed for the lead driver spot. Gené will bring a wealth of experience when it comes to endurance prototype racing, having won at Spa with Audi and Le Mans with Peugeot in the past.
