Summary

  • Nissan is opening its first Nismo Performance Centers outside Japan with the initial facility set to launch at the Ferntree Gully dealership near Melbourne in late 2026
  • The specialized sites provide Australian owners with access to factory-certified technicians and a direct pipeline to Yokohama for heritage parts and restoration services
  • Following the Victorian launch the brand plans to expand the performance network to Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Auckland

Nissan is officially taking the legendary Omori Factory global. The Japanese automaker revealed the opening of its first international Nismo Performance Centers, starting with a flagship location at the Ferntree Gully dealership in Victoria, Australia. Set to open in the second half of 2026, the specialized facility brings elite restoration and restomod services directly to local Skyline owners. The expansion marks a massive milestone for the performance division and provides factory-level support for iconic R32, R33 and R34 models.

The decision to launch the program down under stems from the region’s deep-rooted tuner culture and significant allocation of vintage models. Australia currently accounts for roughly 36 percent of all global R34 GT-R exports and 20 percent of R33 exports. Nismo chief executive Yutaka Sanada confirmed the move during the annual GT-R Festival at Sydney Dragway. He highlighted the local market’s appetite for authentic heritage components and motorsport-driven experiences as primary drivers for the international expansion.

Enthusiasts can expect unparalleled access to the Nismo Heritage Parts catalog. Sourcing rare components like RB26 engine blocks, cylinder heads and custom crankshafts previously required navigating complex import channels. Now, owners will work directly with factory-certified Nismo Meisters trained specifically to handle high-level restorations on Australian soil. The program ensures pristine preservation for privately imported vehicles alongside locally delivered examples.

The Melbourne launch acts as a blueprint for a wider oceanic rollout. Nissan plans to expand the performance network to other major hubs including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Auckland. Nissan Oceania managing director Steve Milette noted that the initiative builds crucial brand engagement by meeting hardcore loyalists exactly where they are. By turning up the boost on classic preservation, the automaker secures the legacy of its most celebrated performance icons for a new generation.
